Dollar Tree stores are very hit or miss for cosmetics. The one by my work has a horrible selection of cosmetics. The inventory never seems to change. The one near my house sells out fast when they get good stuff in. I went one day when they were hanging up l'Oreal nail stickers and when I went back 2 days later they were gone. I went there again tonight and had good luck finding some new makeup to try. Head down to your Dollar Tree if you are interested in any of the products below. Unfortunately the inventory differs from each store.
I am going to share some great budget black liquid liners. I like these liners because they are inexpensive, last long, don't flake off, are easy to use and draw a straight line and have great black coloring. Best black liner for thicker lines
Best black glitter liquid liner
Best overall black liquid liner
There were quite a few new Sinful Colors displays out in the past month. I was completely overloaded. I couldn't decide which ones to try. Finally I leaned towards a blue periwinkle color called 'Violets are blue'. I think thats a great name because it it describes the color perfectly. There is a huge display at Walgreens that combines all the new colors plus had glitter nail pots. Below is the color on the nail. It only needed 2 coats. If you look closely at the bottle you can see a little bit of shimmer in the polish. For $1.99 I think this is a great polish to pick up. This color reminds me of spring.
There were a lot of other pastel and bold cream colors in the display. I would definitely try a few more, especially if they go on sale. . Primers are supposed to make skin smoother, evens skin tone, minimize pores and fine lines and helps extend the life of your makeup. I decided to have a face off between the last 2 primers I bought. They both have similar claims. NYC Smooth Skin Perfecting Primer ($3.99) I haven't really tried NYC foundations but I decided to try their primer The texture is like a watery lotion. I put it on my face and used my hands to rub it in. It took forever to absorb into my skin. The primer is white and when I finally got it absorbed, it left behind this oily looking shimmer. In the picture below you can see the sheen on my hand. If you look past my wrist you can see the comparison between the primer skin and my bare skin. I just couldn't get past the oily looking shimmer left on my face. If you use it under a foundation or powder it's going to alter how it looks. I guess I can see using this by itself with no foundation over it if I want a shimmer look on my face. Rimmel Stay Matte Primer $6.99 The primer has a nice cream consistency. When I used my hand to rub the primer in it blended in quickly. It blended in completely with no residue left behind. Since it is a matte primer it leaves a powdery like finish. I have never liked Rimmel products so I was expecting to dislike the matte finish. I was surprised when I really liked the finish of this primer. It has a slight powdery matte look to it. I would wear this by itself. It did a nice job of evening out my skin tone and covering the redness. It even helped to conceal blemishes. It covered my pores to make them look smaller. I will be putting this into my everyday train case. If you look below I used the Rimmel primer on my hand. It even did a nice job evening out my hand skin tone. It's hard to see the matte finish. It's not oily at all. Sometimes for me the best creams, primers and foundations are the ones you can't even tell your wearing. And the winner is!!!! Rimmel!!!!!
The Stay Matte primer is the clear winner here. And not because I was forced to pick it! I actually like a Rimmel Product! This had a better consistency, finish and absorption time than the NYC Primer. I would wear it under makeup or even on its own. It helps even my skin tone and even helps cover blemishes and scars! I like the slightly powder finish it gives. For $6.99 it is definitely worth a try, especially if you like subtle matte finishes. |
