This spring Sally Hansen came out with a line of top coats. They consisted of glitter top coats, shimmer top coat, matte topcoat and shiny top coat.
From left to right below: Blue Moonlight, Twinkle Snows, MeteorLight, Matte, Shiny, and Goldi-Flecks.
There are close ups of the glitter toppers underneath.
The next polish is 'Blue Moonlight'. It is a clear base with turquoise and silver medium sized glitter. The glitter is a little patchy upon application. You have to move it around on the nail to get semi even coverage. This polish is 'Meh'. I wish the glitter was a little more densely packed. I would definitely like the polish better.
The last chunky glitter polish is 'MeteorLight'. It is a clear base with black and holographic medium sized glitter. This is the first 'Big' topcoat I bought. I wanted to love this polish SO much. But like the Blue Moonlight polish, it applies very patchy. If you want any buildup of glitter you have to move the glitter around to cover the nail evenly, wait until it dries, then apply another coat and repeat moving around the glitter. I just don't like this polish at all.
Each of these 3 nails were topped with the Sally Hansen 'Big Shiny Topcoat'.
The second swatch is the iridescent Twinkle Snows over a dark purple glitter. I used the 'Big Shiny Top Coat' over this nail.
I really like the iridescent glitter polish. It adds a nice girly touch to any polish. My favorite is putting this polish over darker colors. I think it makes the glitter stand out more. It goes on very smooth and even.
The 'Big Matte Top Coat' surprised me. I love sparkly, shiny, 'in your face' glitter. I was hesitant to buy the matte top coat because it would mute any glittery-ness. I brushed the matte top coat over the iridescent glitter and waited for it to dry. It muted the glitter but it made it cool in its own way. I like the frosty satiny look the matte polish leaves behind.
The 3rd picture is of both nails with the iridescent glitter side by side. I probably should have used the same base colors but I hoped that this picture showed the difference between the matte and shiny top coats.
I liked the mix of glitter shapes and colors in 'Goldi-Flecks'. It also had a nice, smooth, even application.
Twinkle Snows, the matte and shiny top coats were my favorite. The iridescent glitter goes on very smooth and even. It makes plain nail polish 'pop'. The matte takes only one coat to completely transform the look of the glitter and polish. I really am going to try and use this top coat more often. And lastly, the Shiny top coat adds a nice glossy finish to the nails. It's a little on the thick side but I love my top coats like that. I feel those kinds give the best finished look when dry.
Each polish used here retails for $5.99 and is available at drugstores and department stores such as Walmart, KMart and Target.
