At Harmon I saw a new Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips eyeshadow palette in 'Casual Eyes'. I don't see yellow and magenta as casual colors but I like them so it works for me. It was $9.79 with an in store $1 off coupon. Below are the colors and swatches in the palette. I love the range of colors. They swatched very smooth and easy. The light blue was a little sheer so I had to apply shadow a few times. Overall I love these colors. They go on great and blend together very well. Besides the zipper I have no complaints at all. You can go neutral or dramatic all in the same palette.

I hit up Big Lots over the weekend. It was the first time I have gone to Big Lots in about 8 months. Like many stores like this or TJ Maxx its hit or miss. I found a few things to take home with me. I love the Fergie polishes and have almost every one except some early spring/ summer shades from around 3 years ago. I finally found one of them at Big Lots. It is a slightly pale yellow cream called 'Ferga-colada'. They had tons of Maybelline eyeshadows. They are the ones that left to make way for the new eyeshadow designs that are in stores now. I got a purple/navy/black/soft white combination called 'Amethyst Smokes'. I rounded out my trip with 2 Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks. I got 2 similar shades called 'So Pearly' and 'Sparkling Sand'
As I have stated in quite a few of my blogs, I am not a fan of Rimmel. Nothing stands out for me. They never have a product that Im like 'Yeah, Im going to get another one of these' Rimmel recently redesigned their nail polishes. They also introduced 60 second polishes. They are a little smaller than regular nailpolishes but cost only $1.69. I had a few $1 off coupons so for .69 cents I wouldn't mind giving them a try. I have only seen these at Walgreens. I chose 3 shades: a beige tan called 'caramel cupcake', a pale lilac called 'I lilac you' and a purple, blue, silver and iridescent glitter polish called 'magic stardust' I must admit I really liked these polishes. They had a nice selection of colors for a bargain price. The polishes had great consistency and I used 2 coats for each. They were not streaky and really did dry in less than 60 seconds.
These 60 second polishes made a dent into my dislike of Rimmel cosmetics. I will definitely try a few more in the future, especially at this quality and price. I saw on the Rimmel website that Rita Ora has teamed with Rimmel to release a line of 60 second polishes. The colors looked great and I hope to see them in stores. At Ulta in the Butter London section, certain polish colors are 3 for $15. Butter polishes usually retail for $15 each. This is a great deal. The 3 colors that I bought were 'No more Waity, Katie', 'Lolly' and 'Airy Fairy' 'Airy Fairy' is an electric shimmer blue that has a electric pink shimer tinge in certain light. It's an awesome color. I used 2 coats and it went on smooth and opaque.
'Lolly' is an electric hot pink shimmer color. This has a yellow shimmer tinge in certain lights. Another great color and great formula. 'No more Waity, Katie' is an interesting color. I picked it because I have never seen a polish like it. It is a grey lavender with bluish purple glitter. I used 2 coats and it went on smooth. These are 3 great polishes. I love the brightness of the blue and pink and the uniqueness of the grey lavender. My second Ulta clearance trip proved to be as successful as my first. I found some great deals. I think I calculated the retail prices to be well over $120.
I picked up 3 Zoya polishes for $1.97 each.(Retail $9 each), O.P.I. Polish .97 cents (Retail $9), Pop Beauty blush $4 (Retail $18), Pop Beauty polish and lip gloss $2.75 (Retail $10), 3 NYX glam shadows .97 each (Retail $4.99 each), O.P.I. Gwen Sefani polish $2.97, (Retail $14.95), Ulta cream eyeshadow .49 cents (retail $8) and a new NYX eyeshadow palette on sale for $7.99. I finally was able to buy one of the Ulta gift sets that contain delux sample and full sized cosmetics. The 'Get Ready For the Party' collection was on clearance during the most recent Ulta clearance fest. This set contains $95 worth of products. It was regularly priced at $30. It was on clearance for $9.97. It contained cosmetics from Lorac, Laura Geller, Pur, Tarte, Napolean Perdis, and Butter.
I am really impressed with all the full size and delux sized sample products in this collection. A $95 value for $9.97. You can't beat that. I originally got this for the Butter nail polish and ended up liking the other products more than the nail polish!
If you are near an Ulta I suggest trying to find this 'Get ready for the Party' color collection. It has all products that you will get more than one use out of. Usually I like one or two things in a cosmetic set but I like everything in this! This weekend was my most expensive haul to date before coupons. My haul came to a little less than $200. With manufacturer coupons, store rewards, and store coupons my total came to $27. I also received $34 in Extra Bucks towards my next visit. I picked up a Physicians Formula Youthful Wear foundation ($14.99), a Garnier BB miracle eye cream ($13.99), and an Olay BB cream ( on clearance for $3.74). From L'Oreal I got a new Glossy Balm ($8.39), Nail polish ($5.99), and new Visible Lift Blur cream blush ($10.99) I was in a neutral shadow mood so I bought a Wet n Wild Coloricon shadow trio ($2.99) and a Maybelline eyeshadow quad in copper and brown tones. ($9.99) I bought the Sally Hansen Gel Manicure kit. It was $59.99. With coupons it was too great of a deal to pass up. I had a 25% off CVS coupon, a $20 off CVS coupon and a $5 MFC. The price was brought down to $20.
Overall it was a great CVS haul. I'm looking forward to trying my gel manicure kit, L'Oreal visible lift blush and new BB cream. I still can't believe that I only paid $25 for all of this stuff that had a retail value of $198.00. I'm already planning for next weeks haul! This sale is fantastic! I was so overwhelmed I didn't know what to get. Below is what I finally decided on. They had others things like China Glaze for .98, O.P.I for $2.98, Revlon polishes or nail strips for $1.98 and Piggy Polish for .98. I picked up a 'Revenge' makeup palette by NYX. I never even heard of this show but I would buy a makeup palette from 'The Beverly Hillbillies' show if it was by NYX. The palette was originally $25.00 and I got it for $6.97. I also got an NYX 'Adorable' eyeshadow palette for $4.80. It was originally $7.99. I loved the NYX 'Sex Bomb' palette in the same family of palettes so I decided to try the Adorable one. The deals of the day were a $10 colored Ulta eyeshadow for .49 and an $8 Ulta cream eyeshadow for .49. So I got $18 worth of cosmetics for .98 I also got 2 NYX shadow singles for .98 cents each. They are originally priced at $4.99, I found an $18 Japonesque eyeshadow brush for .97. Lastly I got a $9 Zoya polish for $1.99. The NYX singles are a warm brown with sparkle and a burnt orange with sparkle. They are originally $4.99 and were .97 each. The NYX 'Adorable' palette was not on clearance but NYX was 40% off. This palette was originally $7.99 and I paid around $4.60 Here is the $25 Revenge makeup kit by NYX that I got for $6.97. The palette has eyeshadows, lipglosses and blushes. This was not marked clearance or in the clearance section so some items might be still in regular priced sections. The Ulta mascara on top is a blue colored mascara. It retailed for $10 and was on sale for .49 cents! The cream eyeshadow on bottom is a dark charcoal grey with irridescent glitter. It is a really pretty shadow. The swatch is on the right. Unfortunately most of these sales are in store only. So if there is an Ulta store near you I strongly suggest checking out this clearance sale!
As soon as I saw this on the Ulta site, I had to have it. I usually never buy anything in the 'Urban Decay, Too Faced, Tarte' price range. But I couldn't help it. I loved this eyeshadow palette by Lorac. I was actually surprised this palette was only $24. Most Palettes from higher brands range around $50. I love the color of this palette and the colors in this palette. I have really been going outside my neutral color comfort zone. This is perfect for me. It has 8 nice sized shadows and 2 larger base/highlighting shades. I like how you can do a completely colorful eye look or just add a pop of color to the base or neutral shades. The first 2 shades swatched below are the base/highlighting shades. The white shadow is a little sheer. It applies very dry and powdery. The 2nd base is a pretty champagne color with sparkle. It applies very smooth and has good coverage. The white is matte and the champagne is a shimmer shadow. Next is a dark turquoise blue shadow and a seafoam greenish blue shadow. They are both matte. Each of the shadows are very pigmented. The apply smooth and easy. They were great when blended on the eye. Next in the palette are a gold and a golden bronze brown. Both of these are shimmer shadows. They both are smooth and warmly pigmented. The plum purple and milk chocolate brown are next. They are both matte shadows. The purple is a little dry and sheer when applied. The brown is silky smooth and nicely pigmented. The last 2 shadows are a matte burnt orange and a dark matte brown. They have great pigmentation and smooth application. Overall I am pleased with my purchase. It has lived up to my expectations. The colors are beautiful. I have used it everyday since getting it. I have gotten compliments on how nice my eye makeup looks. There are endless shadow combinations and he shadows blend great.
If you love color then this is a perfect eyeshadow palette. At $24 its actually a bargain compared to other palettes such as Urban Decay. This Lorac afterGLO palette is only available at Ulta.com or in Ulta stores. Rain has put a damper on 4th of July parties and fireworks in CT. But starting tomorrow the BBQ and firework reschedulings will be starting to take place. I did festive nail art to get into the red, white, and blue spirit.
I used a mixture of polishes, sequins, glitter, sponges and striping tape to achieve the nail art. I never buy Neutrogena cosmetics. Mainly because they are on the expensive end of drugstore cosmetics. They have nothing less than $9 or $10 dollars. This week at Rite Aid Neutrogena cosmetics were 40% off. That is a great deal for Neutrogena. But what sealed the deal for me was that I found $2 off coupons on a Neutrogena display at a Rite Aid near my summer cottage. Below is what I ended up getting at Rite Aid using the $2 mfc's and 40% sale. I also had a $2 off Neutrogena cosmetic Video Value coupon from Rite Aid which I was able to use with a $2 MFC. The only Neutrogena product I didn't get at Rite Aid was the visibly even BB cream. This was in the clearance section at Walgreens for $5.(Retail price is around $15.99) I picked up from Rite Aid the Neutrogena healthy skin Iiquid makeup. It contains SPF 20 and helps keeps skin looking young and healthy. I paid $5.80 for this foundation. Retail price was $12.99. At Rite Aid I also bought a Shine Control Rice invisible powder to help eliminate shine for a fresh look all day. It layers invisibly over makeup and has a matte finish. I paid $5.20 after $2 MFC and 40% off. (Retail $11.99) I bought the Neutrogena SkinClaring mineral powder. You can use the powder 2 ways to cover, treat and prevent breakouts. There is a 2 sided sponge that can give you sheer or fuller coverage.
My first Neutrogena mascara is the Healthy Volume mascara in Carbon Black. The mascara has olive in the formula that helps provide '400% Fuller, clump free lashes'. This retais for $8.99. I paid $3.40 for the mascara.
Overall I am looking forward to trying out the Neutrogena cosmetics, I have never been able to afford them at full price but with a 40% off sale and $2 mfc's. , I was able to try a nice variety of cosmetics. I never go to the mall anymore. I think I have been 3 times in the past 2 years. I didn't even know they put in a really nice Sephora in the JC Penney. I went to the mall today because my friend told me about some great Sephora clearance finds.
Not only did I find incredible clearance items THEY WERE AN ADDITIONAL 25% off! Deborah Lippmann polishes. $3.00. That's all I have to say. Its true. I got $19 nail polishes for $3.00 after the extra 25% off. They were marked $3.99. They were great glitter polishes too. Not like typical clearance where there is an open bottle of mustard yellow polish left in clearance. So I got 2 Deborah Lippman polishes (retail $20 each) for $3.99 each ($3.00 after 25%), a Formula X for Sephora polish (retail $10.50) for $1.99 ($1.50), and a Sephora eyeshadow (retail $13.50) for $2.99 ($2.24 after discount.) With tax I paid $10.33 for $62 worth of makeup From the Dare to be Nude collection, I chose a light pink lipstick called 'Ravishing Rose'. The Dare to be Nude lipstick collection is now part of Maybellines permanent lipstick collection.
Some nude lipsticks make me look like I just put concealer on my lips or makes my lips completely blend into my skin. I think this will look a nicer on me after Im a little tan from the summer. This is an interesting take on a neutral nude color. The lipstick goes on a little dry but not too bad. It has nice pigmentation. It is a rosy light pink color. Not too pale and not too rosy. I like this shade the best out of the other Dare to be Nude limited edition lipsticks. ($8.99) At T.J. Maxx 2 weeks ago I found this Brazil by O.P.I.mini liquid sand polish set. It was only $5.99. I know at stores like Ulta they retail for $12.99. I really like O.P.I.'s textured polishes and these colors in the Brazil collection just scream summer to me. They would look great used together or on their own. Another thing I like about the liquid sand polishes is that they dry very quickly. And you only need one or 2 coats. I usually have total opaqueness on the first coat. I like doing a 2nd coat to make sure the texture is fairly even across the nail. The purple polish is called 'Samba-dy loves Purple'. The red is called 'Im Brazil Nuts Over You'. The turquoise blue is called 'Whats a little rain forest' and the yellow is 'You're so Flippy Floppy' The colors in this collection are gorgeous. I really think the texture adds to these polishes. I don't see myself going crazy over regular polishes in this color. The texture makes the colors look sophisticated. I don't have to add glitter or a top coat to try and make it look nice. These polishes dry quickly, have bright and bold colors and really say summer to me. I'm going to wear these in winter when I need a little reminder of summer and warm weather.
I've been very excited since Rite Aid put out massive amounts of new cosmetic displays this week. There have also been great Rite Aid facebook coupons and sales this week. I also got very lucky with clearance finds.
I paid around $15 total and received $5 Up Rewards for my Revlon purchases and $10 Up Rewards for the lip extravaganza deal currently going on. |
