The Revlon Age Defying Firming and lifting was on clearance for $3.74. I used a $2 off coupon and got it for $1.74. Retail price is $14.99. The Revlon shadow link was on sale for $.74 cents. The color is melon. It is a nice peach/orange color. Retail price is $2.99. I actually got 2 more of the Revlon Sun Candy polish to bring the total up to 4. These are fairly recent as well. They were on sale for $2.24 and I used a $1 MFC so they were $1.24 each. They are dual ended polishes with a cream color on one end and a glitter top coat on the other. I will have to do a review on the 4. They had a basket of polishes all on clearance. I picked up 2 Sinful Shine polishes or .49 cents each. Retail Price is $1.99. They also had one summer 2013 Xtreme Wear polish in an electric blue. It was on sale for .79 and retail price is $3.19. This new liquid eyeliner pencil in 'blue rush' was on clearance for $2.37. I used a $1 off coupon to make it $1.37. This is a swatch of the blue L'Oreal eyeliner. It is incredibly soft and pigmented. It glides across the skin. This is the Aqua Smooth foundation compact by cover girl. It is a mirrored compact. It retails for around $9 dollars. I got is on sale for $2.74. I used a $1 off cover girl MFC to bring the price down to $1.74. | It was hard to take a picture of the liner. The silver lettering made every light reflect off it. This is a purple glitter eyeliner by Jordana called 'Gltter Rocks'. It has pieces of silver glitter in the purple eyeliner. I used it a few times already. I never used Jordana cosmetics before. This is a great liner. It has a firm yet not too hard liner crayon. It doesn't pull at your eyelid but it also doesn't crumble as soon as you try to use it. It was on clearance for .62 cents. Retail price is $2.50-2.99 I got the last polish in the L'Oreal Gold Dust textured polish set. Most of these just made their way into the permanent collection. This rusty copper color is called 'I like it Chunky'. (I hate the name of this!) it was on sale for $1.74 I picked up 2 Revlon Skinlights for $3.24. I used 2, $2 coupons and they were a part of BOGO 50 % sale. It cost .86 cents for both of them. On the left side of my hand you can see a little shimmer. That is the Bare Light Skinlight. The right side of my hand has the pink light Skinlight Shimmer. |
I could not believe that these products were on clearance. I literally almost fell down. As a makeup nerd, I have never found anything like this before. These cosmetics are VERY current and recent cosmetics! The l'Oreal limited edition liner came out like a month ago! I have no idea why they were on clearance. They don't have room? Overstock? Either way it made me one happy person when I left with over $100 worth of cosmetics for $15.

There were some new displays at Walgreens and Harmon. It looks like there are some new Sinful Shine spring colors out. These were in a random display among the Easter Items. Sinful Shine Polishes are usually $2.99. At Harmon's there was a new Sally Hansen Display for Xtreme Wear nail polishes. They are glitter polishes. I bought a few of them and will do another post on them soon. They were $2.69. This is the new Revlon Collection based on the new Spider-Man Movie. It looks like there are some repromotes along with some new glosses and polishes.
I don't know how else to start this post except with I GOT 2 REVLON PHOTOREADY SKINLIGHTS for .86 cents! I went to Walgreens last night and was blown away by the clearance. I have another post later on describing the incredible other deals I got. These were on clearance for $3.24 each. These just recently came out over the past 3-4 months. I have no idea why they are on clearance. They are normally around $12.99 each.
I had $2 off Revlon Face coupons from coupons.com. When I went to the register I brought these 2 up and used 2 $2 Revlon coupons. When she said .86 cents I put my bills away and dug in my purse for change. I looked at my receipt and for some reason these clearance Revlon items were on the weekly sale of BOGO 50%. $3.24+$1.62 ( BOGO 50%) = $4.86 -2.00 + -2.00. ------------------------- $1.24 + -.38 cents - .38 ---------------- .86 cents for 2 Rvlon Skinlights (retail value of $25.98.) That's about 97% off !!!! In an upcoming post I will have swatches of the Skinlights. I also got a bronze one. This is one of the best deals I have gotten. There were CRAZY clearance deals on cosmetics at Target. The retail value of all the makeup I got is $125.25. I got it all for $14 dollars!!!!!! This has got to be my best haul to date! Every brand had items on clearance. I used a coupon for every item I had. The clearance total came to $50. With coupons It came to $14. The cashier I went to even called the manager over because she thought that this couldn't be possible and I was doing something to 'con' the store. She complained to the manager that I had a coupon for every item and every item was a clearance item. The manager came over and told her that everything I'm doing is perfectly fine. Check out my finds and see if there is anything that you would want to try. The prices are too good to pass up. I know Target prices vary from location. If you see a product and there is no sticker, scan it anyway. (Pic heavy!)
I finally found a daily face makeup routine that seems to work. It's hard to find products that work for your type of skin. You have to figure out your foundation shade, if your oily, dry, acne prone, and all without looking like a clown put on your makeup. At this age, I have tons of questions about figuring out what type of skin I have and what I should use. Do I need SPF? Do I need something with age renewal or collagen? What is a primer? I did a lot of researching and buying of products to try and find something to work. I think for now, these products that I put together work. Now a little bt about my face and skin. I'm a little embarrassed/nervous about posting my first 'selfie'.. I'm very self conscious and I'm not super model worthy like many other make up bloggers on the web. But I hope that if someone can relate, maybe I can help find a product for them. Mind you these pictures were taken at 8 pm. My hair is up and sweats are on! My face is very acne prone. I have a hormone imbalance and thyroid problems. I get severe breakout episodes with large pimples that get very red and inflamed and take at least 2 weeks to go away. I can get ruddy around my cheeks. I have larger pores on my nose and around my chin. I'm starting to get crows feet around my eyes. I get bags under my eyes frequently. I have a few scars from chicken pox and sun spots from being a lifeguard and worshipping the sun in my 20's. So with all this in mind, I looked for products to help my problem areas and keep me looking as natural as possible. Below are the before and afters. The first pictures are without any makeup and in the second pictures I used my face cosmetics. My face routine can take less than 10 minutes. Below are the products that I used on my face In the pictures. The products helped to even out my skin and cover up blemishes and marks. 1. Rimmel Stay Matte Primer: I usually don't like ANY products from this brand. But I recently tried their matte primer and I really do like it. I feel it helps to even out my skin, make my pores appear smaller and give a good base for my foundations. I put this on first. ($6.99)
2. Next I use L'Oreal Visible life CC eye cream. It is a roller ball applicator and I put in under and on the side of my eyes. I feel it helps soften my lines and cover up my bags. ($9.99) 3. The tinted moisturizer I am using this time around is by Ulta. It is called Fabulous Face and its hypoallergenic, oil free and fragrance free. It has an SPF of 20 and I bought it in 'Light'. I put this on top of the primer. It really blends in nicely to my skin. Sometimes I can't tell I'm wearing it. It gives nice blemish coverage and helps to even out the redness in my cheeks. It takes away a lot of redness in my face. ($12.99) 4. After the moisturizer I go back to my blemishes or scars and dab on L'Oreal True Match in Fair. It is a concealer crayon that is on the dry side. I find that the dry concealers work well on me. I dab it on and rub to blend it in. ($9.99) 5. I never knew what to do with powder. I always bought it and always ended up looking like I had baby powder puffed on my face. I finally bought and tried Nearly Naked pressed powder in Fair by Revlon. I really like how this looks and feels. It tops off my foundation and concealer with a nice, fine setting powder. It kind of ties everything together. It doesn't overpower the face. Is not the first thing you see when you look at me. That is what I feel a face powder should do. I'm very happy I tried this powder by Revlon ($9.99) So overall I feel that these products help to cut down on the redness, blemishes and uneven-ness of my skin. It doesn't cover everything perfectly, but I feel it's a nice, quick way to get ready in the morning when I have negative time to get myself and my daughter ready before I have to leave for work. If you have any of the similar skin issues that I do, give some of these products a try. They might work or they might not work. I hope this is helpful to somebody who is looking for recommendations for products. These could work for someone who is in their 30's or a working mother or someone who just needs direction on what types of face products work and you don't have to spend a fortune on them. At Walgreens I saw a new small display with 8 different polishes called 'Tweeds and Leather'. The leathers dry to a matte finish to look like leather. The glitters look like bar glitter polishes. The price is $5.99.
At first I was very 'meh' about the new Revlon shadow singles. Once I bought some I finally realized their potential. ![]() You buy the shadows and link them together on the side. They lock together securely and don't break apart. What made me like the concept of these is that you can put your own palette together. You don't have to lug around a 35 shadow palette just for the 4 colors you are using. Then once you are done, you can create a whole new color palette. The colors shown are my favorite palette color combo: Onyx, Candy, Peacock, and Oyster. ![]() Onyx is a black shimmer/glitter color. It goes on fairly pigmented on the first swipe. You can build this color up to desired look. You can clearly see the silver glitter in the Onyx. I use this a lot for the eye crease and as a liner for under my bottom lashes. Candy is like a pearl shimmer shadow. It goes from light to dark pink depending on the light. Mi like using this color as the eyelid base. Candy goes on smooth and sheer and can be built up. ![]() Swatches of Onyx and Candy ![]() Peacock is a blue pearl shadow with purple undertones. It is my favorite out of the 4. It is very flattering on my skin tone. It is fairly sheer when you put it on but it does build up. I use this in my eyelid crease. It blends out very nice. Peacock also doesn't blend away which I really like in a crease shadow. I use an amazing Mirabella brush that I got in my first Ipsy bag ever and it blends shadows perfectly. Sometimes, with sheer shadows, the brush just blends away the shadow and I have to reapply. Oyster is a metallic cream shadow. I don't see how it can be considered a 'metallic shadow'. It is the sheerest out of the group and is good for highlighting the brow bone or the inside corer of the eye. ![]() Peacock and Oyster swatches. The shadows last on me for most of my 7 hour day, it does fade by the time I go home. Some of the shadows fade faster than others. The periwinkle stays glowing the whole time while the onyx, oyster and candy fade a bit.
For $2.99 they are a bit expensive. This 4 pan palette costs $11.98. There are better quads out there with similar or better quality. I really love the periwinkle color. If anything just try the periwinkle color out. Rite Aid Always has BOGO 50% sale on Revlon so check your local Rite Aid Ad. I do recommend these shadows shadows to create your own personalized palette of colors. They are a little expensive for what you get but.if you combine sales and coupons, it isn't that bad. I have finally found the elusive last shades to my Parfumerie collection. They had 5 shades online at Ulta.com, an orange blossom, espresso, balsam fir, powder puff and a tropical rain shade/scent, that I can't find in stores. But I did find the Lime Basil and Ginger Melon colors. They also had the brown chocolate truffle color but I really don't use dark browns so I passed on it. Knowing me I will end up getting it anyway. Those 3 colors are only found in the stand up displays in stores. ![]() Lime basil is a seafoam green cream polish. It has a good texture and a citrusy basil smell. It smells like sprite. Ginger melon is a dark pink cream. This formula is a little thinner than the Lime Basil. It goes on easy and smooth. It smells like honeydew melon with a little spice. I definitely think these are great spring/summer colors. I can't believe how much I like most of these polishes. They are great base colors or worn alone. The scents are fragrant yet not too powerful. The ones that were very thick and unattractive looking on my nails are the Lavender Soap, Sunlit Grass and the Pink Pineapple. I think the smell and formula of the pink pineapple is the worst out of all of them. Its a sugary sickening sweet smell where the polish pools at the cuticles and is hard to make even on the nail. My favorites are Wintermint (A Deborah Lippman Dupe), Spun Sugar (My favorite to use as a base for nail designs), China Flower, and Moonlit Woods. I did some shopping on my day off (What a suprise!). I did find some newly marked clearance Physician Formula items at Rite Aid. For $5 I got $42 dollars worth of Physicians Formula. I got the new CC Correcting powder with color correcting and anti aging pigments, PHmatchmaking Powdered Blush and Cashmere Wear Ultra Smoothing Bronzer. I used coupons, my 20% discount, UP Rewards and clearance prices to bring my price down to $5. Plus I received $10 Up Rewards. Besides the Physicians Formula I mainly picked up clearance items. The new Revlon wrinkle filling gel was the only other thing I bought full price. ($13.99. After coupons and extra bucks I paid less than $6) I picked up only 2 nail polishes. A lovely teal called ' Key West' by Milan for 50% off ($2.99) and a Sally Hansen Super Lustrous nail color in Firefly for 75% off ($1.99) For 50% off I bought a Wet n Wild Mega shield lip color in Peachy Keen. I tried it on and it is a very flattering color on me. I will definitely keep my eye open for another one. ($1.49) I love the packaging and design of Physicians Formula cosmetics. I bought a Cashmere Bronzer for 75% off ($3.45) and a PH Balancing Blush for $75% off ($3.45).
This week at Walgreens Kiss nails and nail art are 40% off. I spotted this cute nail charm set and picked it up. It was on sale for $3.49. It only comes with a few of each design but there is great variety. There are jewels, bows, stars, hearts, flowers, ice cream, ovals and a strawberry. The glue is included. Below is a quick nail design using the bows from the nail art kit. I used dotting tools as well. The red polish is China Flower by Revlon Parfumerie ($5.99), grey is NYC Side walkers ($1.99), black is Rimmel Lasting Pro Finish in Black Satin ($3.99), red glitter is No Place Like Home by Fergie by Wet n Wild($3.49) and white is Snow Me White by Sinful Colors. ($1.99).
![]() I picked up some great Revlon deals this week during my ritual Sunday morning store run. There are $1 off Revlon Coupons in this weeks Sunday Paper. At Rite Aid if you spend $15 you receive $5 Up Rewards. You can use clearance items to qualify. I bought 2 Revlon clearance polishes for $1.36 each and used the $1 off Revlon polish coupon so it only cost me .36 cents each! I picked up a Revlon Age Defying powder for $3.46 and used the $2 off Revlon coupon available in today's paper. It cost me $1.36! I also got a Revlon ColorStay aqua mineral finishing powder. It also only cost me $1.36 after coupons and clearance price. ![]() Along with the Revlon purchases, at Rite Aid I picked up some clearance Nicole by O.P.I. Polishes, and a L.A. Colors color changing lipgloss. The Nicole by O.P.I. Modern Family and Selena Gomez polishes were 75% off. I got each for $1.24. I chose a gold and silver glitter by Selena Gomez called 'Kissed at Midnight', a Modern Family black and silver glitter called 'Luke of the Draw' and a pink micro and holographic glitter called ' Haley Good Lookin'. Lastly I picked up an L.A.Colors mood instinctive lipgloss for $1.99. It is a pale shimmery pink that is supposed to turn your own unique shade of pink on your lips. My total at Rite aid using coupons and store rewards came to $5.02. ![]() At Walgreens I picked up a iridescent glitter single eyeshadow from Wet n Wild. I also picked up a new Sinful Colors from their new collections called 'Red Eye'. From the new Fergie display I chose another Vicious Varnish Highshine lip stain in 'Flawless'. ![]() As part of my CVS trip I picked up some Revlon and L'Oreal products. The other day I bought the new L'Oreal Butterfly mascara and love it. This sale at CVS can give you a chance to buy a few new collection items. I bought a glittery L'Oreal polish and a new Color Extrordinaire lip gloss in Rosé Melody. If you spend $15 on Revlon you get $7 Extra Bucks back for your next purchase. I picked up a a Parfumerie Polish in African Tea Rose and a Super Lustrious Lipstick in 'Pink in the Afternoon'. I have never been a lipstick person but the Revlon lipsticks have completely changed my mind. This is a great week for Revlon and L'Oreal sales! I stopped at CVS and Rite Aid to check out any new displays and dwindling clearance deals. The cosmetics to the right were my $5 haul from CVS. With coupons and clearance my total came to around $10 and I received $5 extra bucks. The cosmetics to the left were from Rite Aid and they include my free Almay eye shadows. If you want to pick up any of these clearance deals I would head to the stores this week. They are moving old stuff out fast to make way for the new collections. ![]() The new Physicians Formula Super CC creams were in at Rite Aid. It claims to visibly correct things such as dullness, blemishes and age spots. I am on a quest to find a perfect combination of face creams for my problem areas. I have bought a few ones recently so I hope to do a review soon. There is a $3 off coupon attached to the box. They retailed at Rite Aid for $14.95. With my 20% off Gold member status and coupon I purchased this for $8. ![]() These are my free Almay eye shadows from Rite Aid. They are liquid shadows that I have never tried yet. They were on clearance for around $2.24 each and I had a $5 off 2 manufacturing coupon so they were free. ![]() For the nailpolish portion of my haul were 2 clearance polishes and a BOGO 50% pair. I picked up a black Sally Hansen nail art pen for $2.25, a Nicole by O.P.I. In A pinker Shade of Pale For $1.99 and 2 Julie G polishes including a textured glitter one. ![]() I got these 2 Revlon lip products for 31 cents. Each were 75% off and I had 2 $2.00 off Revlon Lip Products coupon. One was a Just Bitten Lip Stain and the other a Colorburst lip gloss. ![]() I picked up a Black Radiance eyeshadow palette quartet for $2. I have heard good things about these shadows and this brand is done by Wet n Wild. Wet n Wild has great eye shadows so I am hoping these will be the same. I am excited about the products that I got today. I hope to get a CC, BB, and foundation review and a Rainbow Nailpolish Glitter review done soon. I will make sure to share anything great or not so great about any of these products.
Happy Holidays!! ![]() This is my $5.00 haul from CVS. I used coupons and extra bucks and was emailed a 25% off non sale item coupons. I also received $31 extra bucks to be used on my next trip. I will only be talking about the beauty products to the left. ![]() Physicians Formula Super BB Cream $14.99 I bought a Youthful Foundation from them this past week and liked it. I am always looking for the perfect face products for my skin. I have sun damage, acne scars, fine lones starting to show and acne prone skin which I am always a little self conscious about. Most products help with one or two things but lag in another. I will try every face product until I have the right combination. I am going to do a product review of budget foundations, BB Creams and other face products in the future. This product claims to have 10 beauty benefits including concealing, moisturizing and line softening. Hopefully this will deliver on some of its claims. ![]() I usually don't buy anything from Almay but the glosses. I took a chance and picked the eye shadows to buy. I love their glosses but I'm a sucker for eye shadows. I haven't heard too many favorable reviews about these shadows. I decided to try them myself anyway. If anything, they have a nice palette of colors to offer and they have a tester to try. It felt velvety and the shadow color was sheer but noticeable. I picked up a glittery champagne color called creme brûlée. I also picked up violet purple called Vintage grape. Reviews to come. ![]() Around the holidays I usually pick up one or two of these drugstore makeup kits with a million items ( Fergies WnW Jet Set palette) or themes ( like Au Naturale or Ombré). These kits were $4.99. I got 25% off plus had $2 off a cosmetic gift set CVS coupon. It ended up being $1 and change. If the quality and color aren't there, at least I will have another eye pencil sharpener. ![]() On the new NYC display were balm pencils in a pretty arrangement of colors. I wanted to continue one of my New Years resolutions of wearing lipcolors in colors I usually shy away from. This color is called Canal St Coral. It was a sign I.was meant to get thiis color. My parents and I love to go to Canal Street when we go to NYC. ![]() Here is my Rite Aid haul for the week. With coupons and Up Rewards my total came to around $10. Like Cover Girl, I really want to like Rimmel products. I haven't found anything that I love or would buy extras just so I have. The shadows burned my eyes and none of their products I got ever 'wowed' me. Hopefully one of these will. I also picked up 2 more of the metallic formula Revlon Parfumerie polishes. Check out my review of these polishes in a previous post. ![]() I decided on these 4 products. Hopefully I will find a product that will restore my faith in this brand. I purchased Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam mascara in extreme black and Scandeleyes thick and thin eyeliner. I saw the new display the other day for their new Stay Matte foundation so i waited until today to pick it up.It also had powder on the display. I picked up the foundation in Light Ivory. Like I always mention, I'm looking for a great face makeup combination for my problem areas. I like different things about each BB cream I have. Hopefully this will be a BB cream I can count on. ![]() Lastly, I picked up 2 more shades from the Revlon Parfumerie collection. From a previous blog, you know I either HATE of LOVE the polishes from this collection. I'm hoping these 2 have the formula and characteristics of the polishes I liked. I chose Italian Leather a shimmery steel grey and Surf Spray a turquoise with pink shimmer. In the bottle they look to be of the right formula. Overall I am very excited to try my new products. I hope to be able to share some great products ( and share any that I don't think people should waste their money on!) I read other beauty blogs to get an idea of what new and seasoned products out there that are great. One of the purposes of my blog is to pass on that makeup product information to others with my own opinions tacked on. If I can encourage one person to take a step and buy a product they normally wouldn't, I have succeeded. It's a great feeling buying new makeup, especially ones that you usually wouldn't buy and end up loving. Reviews of these products to come! ![]() Here is an easy manicure for one of the many holiday gatherings you may be attending this week. I used Revlon Parfumerie spun sugar as a metallic base. Thiis color Is turning into my go to base for a lot of my winter manicures. A diagonal was painted across the top of the nail in Sinful colors 'Snow me White. This $1.99 color is a great white polish. I find that when I use this on top of a base color, I only need 1 coat. Nothing shows through. The green line under the diagonal was done with Sinful Colors Crystal Crush Emerald Envy. It's a textured polish but I love the color. I topped it with a layer of green and red glitter from Sinful Colors Holiday Collection in Holiday Rebel. The dots were done in a bright creme red by Revlon Parfumerie called China Flower. I used this manicure to test out my new dotting tools that I got as a gift today. If you don't have a dotting tool, use the end of a bobby pin. Here is the manicure again with flash. ![]() Please bear with me while I get the hang of twitter, my website/blog and the quality of everything. Here is one of my first glitter French manicures. I love glitter. Hence my web page and twitter name: You're never too old for glitter. I'm in my mid 30's and I can't picture ever wearing makeup or nail polish without some type of glitter/shimmer. This poorly captured and 'not painted in the lines' manicure consisted of 3 polishes. The base is one of my favorite peachy/tan nudes and its called 'Grey Suede' by Revlon.I have pale skin so it stands out perfectly against it. I used 2 coats on each nail. Next For the French Tip I used Midnight Blue by Sinful Colors. It is a deep navy with royal blue undertones. I used 2 coats on each nail tip. I painted down a little further on the nail tip than a typical French manicure. Wi th a makeup sponge (The Dollar Tree has a great set for only $1!), I dabbed a little underneath the tip of the nail. A sliver of solid color should still show at the top. Glitter should be capped almost halfway down the nail. The glitter polish used was Disco Inferno by N.Y.C. New York Color. It is a dense glitter polish with royal blue and holographic glitter. The finished look was coated with a layer of quick drying clear Grand Central Station by N.Y.C New York Color. It is a great glittery holiday manicure. |
