I also purchases the new MegaPlush colored mascara in Navy by Maybelline. I bought the corresponding limited edition eyeshadow quad earlier that week. I'd like to see how they work together. ($5 after 20% discount and MFC)
L'Oreal is 40% off at Rite Aid this week. I took the opportunity to spend $2.29 on a new Butterfly Mascara, Visible Lift CC cream ($4 after MFC) and a Color Riche eyeshadow quad in Hollywood Icon (Used $2 MFC and it came to $2.84)
I also purchases the new MegaPlush colored mascara in Navy by Maybelline. I bought the corresponding limited edition eyeshadow quad earlier that week. I'd like to see how they work together. ($5 after 20% discount and MFC)

I only bought a few items at CVS this week. The turnover with new collections in the beauty section is very slow at my CVS. I still managed to find a few things that I wanted. My total came to $45.67 and with mfc's, store coupons and store rewards I ended up paying .67 cents. I will actually be doing posts on everything I purchased in the future. I bought a purple and silver Sally Hansen Satin Glam polishes ($5.99), a 'Nude Wear' blusher by Physicians Formula ($9.99) and a limited edition Maybelline EyeStudio eyeshadow quad . ($9.99).
I'm a little behind on my weekend posts. This is from my last CVS haul. I like the brand new CVS that opened near me in Oct but they seem to never change their cosmetic displays. They still have holiday collections and Hunger Games Cover Girl Displays taking up huge sections. Each Sunday my CVS sets out a table with 75% off merchandise. With mfc's, I got the Revlon blush, L'Oreal Infalliable concealer and L'Oreal Voluminous mascara for $2.50
I purchased a Maybelline Dream Bouncy blush (I love how they feel and how easy they blend), an Organic Physicians Formula Mascara, and a Physicians Formula Plump Potion lipgloss. I bought a Sally Hansen Satin Glam pink polish. I also have a blue and white Satin Glam polish and I really like the "satin" finish of the polishes. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a solid color with a little extra touch. I bought a few other things and paid $16 for $85 worth of merchandise. I received $32 in Extra Bucks. My trip was really free plus I got $16 towards my next trip. I have seen the new Maybelline 'Dare to be Nude' collections everywhere but not everywhere has the color tatoo eye shadows. I should have picked them up a few weeks ago but I didn't and haven't seen them since. So when I saw a huge display of the 'Dare to be Nude' collection at Walgreens, I had to pick 2 up. I chose a smooth caramel bronze called 'caramel cool' and a black called 'Stroke of midnight'. The caramel tattoo is a beautiful shade. It has a metallic sheen in certain lights. I think this would look nice on the lid or crease. It goes on very smooth and a little goes a long way. The color Tatoo's I have had in the past have always gone on very smoothly and had great staying power throughout my work day.
The black has a nice little surprise: glitter!!!! Under the surface is silver glitter throughout the midnight black. I'm very excited that this one has glitter. I will be a quick, pretty shadow to apply. The Tatoo's retail for $6.99-$7.49. At Walgreens there was a BOGO 50% sale on Maybelline. If these wear as well as the other color tatto's I have, I definitely recommend these. They are 2 I have been feeling lousy and sleeping a lot over the past few days. I had to go shopping today for my budget buys. You know I'm sick when I don't shop first thing Sunday morning. I went to CVS today and found some pretty good deals. My final price after using coupons and store rewards was .62 cents.
There were CRAZY clearance deals on cosmetics at Target. The retail value of all the makeup I got is $125.25. I got it all for $14 dollars!!!!!! This has got to be my best haul to date! Every brand had items on clearance. I used a coupon for every item I had. The clearance total came to $50. With coupons It came to $14. The cashier I went to even called the manager over because she thought that this couldn't be possible and I was doing something to 'con' the store. She complained to the manager that I had a coupon for every item and every item was a clearance item. The manager came over and told her that everything I'm doing is perfectly fine. Check out my finds and see if there is anything that you would want to try. The prices are too good to pass up. I know Target prices vary from location. If you see a product and there is no sticker, scan it anyway. (Pic heavy!)
I know, I know. I vowed never to buy another one of the new Maybelline eye shadow quads because I was SO disappointed in pigmentation and overall quality. But as soon as I saw the blue in this palette I had to get it. I'm a sucker for color. Color and glitter. Unfortunately this one did not have any glitter. There are 4 Matte shades. The palette is called 'Electric Blue'. The price was 5.99. As a gold card member at Rite Aid, I get 20% off regulars priced merchandise. I think it scanned as $4.80. I had a $1 off MFC so it brought the price down to $3.80. ![]() he blue really stood out to me. I liked how it was labeled as use for the crease. I think it would look great as a pop of color there. I usually play around with my palettes and try each shade on my lid, eye crease, etc. ![]() The palette comes with a larger pan of a slightly off white shadow to be used as a base. It is a matte shadow like the rest in the quad. It is a decent white base and goes on easily and evenly. The lid is a matte lilac. It is pretty sheer when you first put it on. It takes a while to build up. It is a little patchy after building it up. This is my least favorite color in the palette. Shadow 3 is the reason I bought the palette. It is a royal blue with purple undertones. It is definitely not as bright on as in the palettes. But it is a bold blue that I can't wait to play around with. It can get a little patchy but I'm ok with it since I will be doing a lot of blending. The 4the color is a matte black. There really is nothing mind blowing about a matte black. This is a decent matte black. It actually goes on smoother than the blue and Lilac. Below are swatches. The first 4 have no primer and the last 4 are over E.L.F eyelid primer. ($1). The first picture is without flash, the next one is with flash. Overall I like this palette much better than the purple shadow palette I bought a few months ago. Besides the blue shade the palette is pretty unoriginal. A white base, black for liner and lilac for lid. Hopefully the blue will carry the palette and really hold the look together when I create an eye look.
The quality is a still a little disappointing. The shadows are dry and not soft and buttery like their EyeStudio Eye shadows. I LOVE those shadows. Too bad they can't make their Expert Wear shadows similar to the EyeStudio palettes. My favorite colors are the bold blue and matte black. The blue is a unique blue to see in a EyeStudio Palette. It swatched pretty well so I'm excited to try it over the weekend. After buying a 2nd Expert Wear shadow quad I still don't think I can recommend them. I like this palettes a lot better than the last one in terms of color. Some of the colors had better application than the previous quad I purchased. These just don't 'Wow' me or make me want to add it to my daily makeup routine train case. For $4 more I recommend getting the Maybelline EyeStudio shadows. They are a million times softer, smoother, richer and more pigmented. I hit the Essie clearance jackpot at my local Rite Aid. There are 4 or 5 clearance baskets on a bottom shelf that have had the same stuff in there for EVER. Today I took a routine glance at the clearance and noticed a new basket of stuff. 2 Essie polishes jumped out at me right away: 'The girls are out' and 'For the Twill of it'. When I saw the $2.12 price tag I couldn't put them in my basket quick enough.
'The girls are out' is a deep magenta with subtle glitter when you look close at it. 'For the Twill of it is a pink and green shifting duochrome. The duochrome is more evident in the bottle than other nail. On the nail it looks like a slate grey with a slight pink and green shimmer. They are both pretty colors. At Rite Aid, Sally Hansen products are 40% off. I finally picked up one of the Satin Glam polishes. I chose a white color called 'Crystalline' because I read some good reviews of it on the Internet. I'm glad I listened to what I read. It is a beautiful, shimmery, delicate color. It is a pearlized white with iridescent glitter in colors like pink and green. It really is a different color, unlike any I have. ($3.49) Finally they had the Maybelline limited edition colored Great Lash mascaras in clearance for $1.37!!!!!! I have the mascara in berry and teal. I picked up the mascara in purple. I like the Maybelline colored mascaras because they are deep enough to give a classy hint of color to the lashes and don't make you look like you are ready to go trick or treating. I used a $1 off Maybelline mascara coupon so I paid less than .40 for one! I am definitely going back to that Rite Aid when I have a chance. I want to take my time looking through the clearance bins and hopefully pick up some more $2 Essie polishes. Stores like Rite Aid are starting to get in their spring collections so they are getting rid of a lot of seasonal collection items at dirt cheap prices. Keep an eye out! On one of my Sunday CVS trips I took advantage of coupons and sale prices to try out 2 beauty items. Maybelline the Rocket Volume' Express and one of the L'Oreal Brazen Bolds Color Riche eye shadows. Since I have been getting more comfortable with colors I picked up an eye shadow quad called 'Neon Skirt'. It has a yellow gold, off white, seafoam green and a pink/purple shade. I don't think I have ever tried a Maybelline mascara I didn't love. The Rocket Volum' Express is no exception. It is not too watery and a little on the dry side which I like in a mascara. It goes on easy with no clumping. I put on 3-4 costs. My lashes were full and wonderful. I have nothing but positive things to say about this mascara. It retails for around $7.99. I was not thrilled with the L'Oreal eye shadow. I was drawn to the color combination because it is so different. The shadows are a little too powdery. They make a mess. The gold and off white is very sheer when you use a brush. I had to use my finger to actually get some color to build up on my eye. The seafoam green and pink are matte shades. They take a few times of applying to build up. I had to reapply when I used my blending brush because a lot of the color brushed right off. I like the idea of these colors in a palette but the quality of these shadows makes it hard to work with. I actually have quite a few of these eyeshadow quads and the colors combinations are really pre try and unique but the shadows are very powdery and hard to build up. ($7.99)
![]() I am excited about a few of my purchases today. I went to Rite Aid and Walgreens to check out any new displays and the holiday clearance. I picked up the newest 8 pan palette from Wet n Wild. ($5.29) I really like the bright colors to experiment with. There are shades of pink with a black matte definer on the left and yellow, seafoam, blue and a deep royal blue on the right. I also picked up the New Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser by Maybelline ($6.99). I am really curious to see if this works. I will definitely review it. I found the colored Great Lash mascaras at Walgreens. I really like Great Lash mascaras and I loved the berry colored mascara that I bought previously. I picked up the teal one to try ($5.49) ($2.00 off mfc on coupons.com) ![]() I also picked up the 'Art in the Streets' 5 pan palette by Wet n Wild. They have great quality products for the price. The colors are very unconventional and I really like that. I chose a purple and lavender chunky glitter nail polish called 'Jam Session'. With the big glitter it really stands out on the nail. With $1 off coupons attached you can't beat the price. Rite Aid also has a BOGO 50% off Wet n Wild sale that can be used with these products. ($2.99 each) ![]() I also saw a $5 The Color Workshop Everyday Glamour My Lash Stash at Walgreens. It was 50% off. It had a mascara, lash glue, liquid liner and eyelash applicator. For $2.50 even if one of the products is good it is worth it. Check out Walgreens or Rite Aid for the newest 2014 collections including items above! ![]() There was a great sale at Rite aid on the brand new Maybelline Polishes. I picked up 6 over a span of 2 weeks. Here are my reviews of 6 of the polishes from 2 new collections. One is a 'Street Art' collection that is similar to a 'splatter' polish. There were 5 different colors. The other collection had solid color and glitter polishes. ![]() The first color is called Taupe on Trend. It is a milk chocolate brown. After 2 coats it's is a nice, warm brown color that is perfect if you are looking for a neutral nail. It goes on smooth with nice coverage. ![]() for Lilac is a pink with purple undertones. It is a little sheer and streaky so it needs 2 or 3 coats. ![]() This is from the Street Wear Collection. It is black and light pink glitter. There are medium and large hexagon, small circle and small bar glitter. One swatch is by itself and the other is over Sinful Colors 'Feeling Great'. ![]() This is the other Street Wear color that I picked up. It is Blue and black multi shaped glitter. It is swatches by itself and over Revlon Parfumerie 'Apricot Nectar'. ![]() The next is a holographic flake. There is a swatch by itself and one over Maybelline Color Show 'Blue Freeze' from the regular collection. ![]() The last one I picked up was a turquoise and holographic glitter. There is turquoise micro glitter and hexagon and diamond holographic glitter. It is swatches alone and over Nicole by O.P.I. ' A pinker shade of pale'. Overall I think Maybelline has come out with a solid collection of new polishes. There is wide variety of colors and finishes. At $3.99 each, they won't break the bank.
Sunday is when I do my major makeup purchases using weekly ad sales, coupons and store programs such as Extra Bucks for CVS and Up Rewards for Rite Aid. I only buy beauty products when they have a great sale or when they produce a Store Reward (ECB, Up Reward). My best haul to date was spending $1.20 on a $178.00 worth of beauty products at CVS. If I truly want or need a product, I wait until it is on sale or produces a store reward. This is how I am able to add to my makeup and nail collection each week without spending a fortune. I average $5-$7 a store on Sunday for 5-10 new makeup products. CVS is great in that they have a Beauty Rewards Club. If you sign up, for every $50 you spend on Beauty Products you receive $5 Extra Bucks. At first I thought it would take me forever to reach $50, but it adds up fast. I get $5-$10 a week in Extra Bucks just through the Beauty Rewards Club. The great thing is that they add the full price to your Beauty Rewards Total when you use coupons or redeem store rewards. My CVS account Beauty Club says that I spent $1175.79 this year on Beauty Products. But my Out of Pocket Expenses for the year for everything (not just Beauty Products) bought at CVS is around $455.00. It says on my account I have also saved $1,672.00 to date. A lot of people say CVS is the more expensive out of the top 3 drugstores but if you put in the time to research and match up coupons, you can end up spending the least and saving the most here. CVS also sends great 20-30% off non sale item coupons through email that I regularly get which helps me in getting more makeup. :-) Coupons through the Red Coupon Machine in store help with savings as well. Some of the coupons listed with the drugstore deals are regional coupons. I buy several different newspapers on Sunday. I live in Connecticut and even in different Connecticut papers the coupons differ. If you are from around this area the papers that I get with the coupons are: The New Haven Register (Saturday and Sunday edition have coupons), Connecticut Post, Hartford Courant, NY Daily News and NY Post. (My father works around D.C. so he sometimes brings me regional coupon inserts from that area) On the website www.SundayCouponsPreview.com they have the 2013 schedule of inserts. The coupon inserts are Red Plum, SmartSource and Proctor and Gamble. Proctor and Gamble usually come out once a month and at the beginning of the month. Not all newspapers will have all the inserts listed to be out that Sunday. Some coupons are also available to be printed from RedPlum.com, SmartSource.com and P&GEveryday.com. I will use abbreviations for the inserts next to the coupons under the beauty deals. RP- Red Plum SS- Smart Source PG- Proctor & Gamble I will also indicate where a coupon can be printed off online. Let's see what I will be picking up this week to review and share: CVS: Next week due to the holiday, they have 2 different 3 day ads. 12/22-12/24 Ad -Buy 2 Maybelline Great Lash Mascara or ColorShow Nail Polish and receive $2 Extra Bucks. - $1 off Maybelline ColorShow NailPolish MFC(RP, 12/8/13) - $1 off Maybelline Color Elixer or Any Lip ProductMFC(RP, 12/8/13) - $2 off Maybelline Mascara or Foundation MFC (coupons.com) Note: I will probably use this deal if I can find it at CVS on the Limited Edition Great Lash Colored Mascara. I have the Very Berry. I have not seen these at a CVS around me, just at Rite aid and Walgreens. They have several colors including Blue, Green, Pink, Purple, Teal and Violet. I tried the Rimmel Pop Lash colored mascara in green, purple and blue and did not like them. They were too "Halloween" looking. I love color but it made my eyelashes disappear in the color. It didn't make them stand out. The Very Berry Maybelline is a deep berry that accents my eye color and eyeshadow color, not overpowers it like the RImmel Lash Pop. They average $6.00 and with the $2 printable coupon they will be $4.00 each. Plus you will get back $2 EB towards another day's purchase. So you will really get 2 Great Lash Mascara's for around $6. -Color Concept Beauty Book $4.99 and Receive $1 EB -$2 off Cosmetic Holiday Gift Set CVS coupon (CVS Coupon Center) Note: I usually pick up a few holiday beauty sets after Christmas when they go on sale for half off or more. I saw these at CVS and they looked worth a try. Especially for $1.99 after Coupon and Extra Buck received. -Buy 2 Almay Products, Receive $5 EB -$5/2 MFC on coupons.com Note: Rite Aid has a phenomenal clearance on products and using the $5/2 coupon gets you free products. CVS also has some Almay clearance but clearance items do not count towards Extra Buck deals. This is a good sale for the Liquid Lip Balms which I really like. They are not sticky and have a nice sheer color for when I want my eye makeup to stand out. The glosses are $5.99. For 2 glosses: $11.98 - $ 5.00 MFC ______________ $6.98 for 2 Glosses - $5.00 EB for use on next purchase ______________ $1.98 for 2 Glosses Other Sales 12/22 (Depending on coupons I get through email I may or may not buy these) -$15 on Physicians Formula and get $10 EB for use on next purchase -BOGO 1/2 off Wet n Wild Products CVS AD 12/26-12/28
There are not too many makeup Extra Buck sales in this ad. If I get a % off coupon I will probably use it in the ad earlier In the week. Some of the notable beauty sales: -Revlon BOGO 50% -$2 off Revlon Lip (Coupons.com) NO LONGER AVAILABLE Note: If you still have a few left like me, this could be a good time to use them. They expire 12/28. I have been using them on the Revlon Lip Butters. I thought I was more of a lip gloss than lip stick girl but these lipsticks feel like a gloss on. They gift a softer look than lipstick and color like a lip stain. They are $7.99 and with $2.00 off coupons you can get 2 of these for: $7.98 -$15 and Receive $10 EB on Physicians Formula -BOGO 50% L'Oreal Eye - $1 mfc on L'Oreal Eye (RP 12/8/13) -50% off cosmetic gift sets ![]() Since I had a free day to play around with my makeup, here are some more snow themed manicures in case a snow themes mani is in your future. These use a lot of non-traditional snow theme colors. Above I used Sinful Colors Daddy's girl as the base. I didn't like this polish in that it pooled by the cuticles once I put it on the nail. For the gradient I used Maybelline Lust for Lilac with a makeup sponge. Milani Jewel FX in Lavender was used for the accent nail. At Walgreens and CVS now most of the Milani Jewel colors are 50% off. The snowflake was done using Sinful Colors Nail Art. ![]() Here I used Fergie by Wet n Wild in Dana which is a matte fuscia for the base. As the overlay I used Milani one coat glitter in Blue Flash. I got the Milani polish at Dollar Tree! The polish is a bit watery so it does pool by the cuticles a little. The snowflake was done with Sinful Colors nail art. Happy Winter! ![]() I saw several new Maybelline displays at my local Rite Aid. I liked the color combination of this quad: Luminous Lilac Each pan was labeled for where to place the color on your eye. I did swatches with and without primer. ![]() These swatches had no primer. The color to the left was the base. A shimmery peach/pink that was very, very sheer. Next was the lid. A shimmery mauve with basically no color payoff. I was very disappointed in this color. I hoped primer would make a difference. Next was the crease color. A charcoal grey shimmer. It had nice, smooth application and color. Lastly was the liner. A plum purple with faint glitter. It was rich in color but a little patchy. ![]() Unfortunately with primer there wasn't much of a difference. The colors were a tad bit richer but still disappointing. Especially the mauve for the lid. The purple liner was even patcher over primer. I gave up trying to make the shadow even after 3 applications. Overall I was not a fan of these new quads. I don't think I will be picking up another one to try. Maybe the shadow quality and color payoff will be different but I'd rather save my 6 bucks. ![]() I picked up a Sally Hansen colorfast lip pencil because they are very moisturizing and smell like chocolate! They are 75% off at CVS now. I also picked up the last Fergie CenterStage eye palette in Desertt Festival for my collection at Walgreens for 2.99 with coupon and sale. I have read many poor reviews on these but I tend to like the Fergie shadows. Some are very, very sheer and powdery but overall I enjoy making color combinations for my eyes using them. I had some Rite Aid expired Up rewards that the nice manager allowed me to use so my Rite Aid total came to less than $2.00. Fergie polish was BOGO Free so I picked up the last 2 needed for my collection: Dana and Mazel Tov Madness from the Heavy Metal winter collection. N.Y.C Color was also 30% off so I picked up a new Grand Central Station (Best top coat) and a Matte me crazy. I also saw a few new Maybelline collections at Rite Aid. They had a new color show nail collection and a Street Art collection. I picked up a Royal blue and black splatter one from the Street Art one. |
