I only bought a few items at CVS this week. The turnover with new collections in the beauty section is very slow at my CVS. I still managed to find a few things that I wanted. My total came to $45.67 and with mfc's, store coupons and store rewards I ended up paying .67 cents. I will actually be doing posts on everything I purchased in the future. I bought a purple and silver Sally Hansen Satin Glam polishes ($5.99), a 'Nude Wear' blusher by Physicians Formula ($9.99) and a limited edition Maybelline EyeStudio eyeshadow quad . ($9.99).

I'm a little behind on my weekend posts. This is from my last CVS haul. I like the brand new CVS that opened near me in Oct but they seem to never change their cosmetic displays. They still have holiday collections and Hunger Games Cover Girl Displays taking up huge sections. Each Sunday my CVS sets out a table with 75% off merchandise. With mfc's, I got the Revlon blush, L'Oreal Infalliable concealer and L'Oreal Voluminous mascara for $2.50
I purchased a Maybelline Dream Bouncy blush (I love how they feel and how easy they blend), an Organic Physicians Formula Mascara, and a Physicians Formula Plump Potion lipgloss. I bought a Sally Hansen Satin Glam pink polish. I also have a blue and white Satin Glam polish and I really like the "satin" finish of the polishes. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a solid color with a little extra touch. I bought a few other things and paid $16 for $85 worth of merchandise. I received $32 in Extra Bucks. My trip was really free plus I got $16 towards my next trip. I have been feeling lousy and sleeping a lot over the past few days. I had to go shopping today for my budget buys. You know I'm sick when I don't shop first thing Sunday morning. I went to CVS today and found some pretty good deals. My final price after using coupons and store rewards was .62 cents.
There are a few beauty sales this week at CVS that are good if you want to pick up some of the new 2014 items. I know new permanent products are starting to be put in displays this week.
A tip for being a budget beauty hunter is to mainly stick to sales that produce Extra Bucks. This way you have money to put towards the following weeks haul. This is how I buy $100 worth of products every weekend and spend less that $5 out of pocket. That and to coupon clip like a madman. You don't realize how much you can save until you start clipping. Coupons and Store rewards programs are the only reason I am able to get beauty products. Instead of spending around $400 a month, I spend $20. It takes a little effort and time to plan your trip, but once you start and see the payout, it is worth it. Here are some of the CVS beauty buys starting on Sunday: -BOGO 50% on the Lipsticks by: Revlon, NYC, Rimmel, Wet n Wild, Almay, Maybelline, Almay, Milani, Neutrogena and L'Oreal. -$2 off Maybelline Lip MFC (RP 2/2) -$1 L'Oreal Lip MFC (RP 1/12) -$1 Wet n Wild MFC (RP 1/26) -Revlon Face, Eye or Nail BOGO 50% -Essence of Beauty Fragrance or Body Wash Spend $10 and receive $3 Extra Bucks -BOGO 50% Eyelashes, artificial nails -BOGO 50% all Almay and Rimmel cosmetics (Excluding lip) -$1 Lip or Eye MFC (RP 2/2) -$3 Almay Face (RP 2/2) --Physicians Formula 40% off -Maybelline Cosmetic (excluding lip) Spend $10 and receive $4 Extra Bucks -$3 of Maybelline Face MFC ( RP 2/2) -$2 Maybelline Lip (RP 2/2) -$1 Maybelline Eyes (RP 2/2) -L'Oreal Skincare Spend $30 and receive $10 -$2 off L'Oreal lotion www.coupons.com -Sally Hansen Spend $10 and receive $4 Extra Bucks -BOGO 50% Cover Girl Face and Eye -$1 off Cover Girl Product (P&G 1/25) -$3 off 2 Cover Girl Products (P&G 1/25) -$1 off Cover Girl Tru www.coupons.com -BOGO 50% NYC or Wet n Wild (excludes lip) -$1 off Wet n Wild (RP 1/26) -Spend $20 and receive $10 Extra Bucks or Aquaphor or Eucerin -Spend $10 and Receive $3 on Nivea -2/$8 on Body Wash -$6 Lotions -$1 off Nivea (www.coupons.com) -Buy 3 Aveeno Products and receive $10 Extra Bucks -Buy 1 Conair Hair Styling Tool and receive $5 Extra Bucks -Got2B Hair Stylers: Buy for $4.99 and receive $2 Extra Bucks back. ![]() I picked up some great Revlon deals this week during my ritual Sunday morning store run. There are $1 off Revlon Coupons in this weeks Sunday Paper. At Rite Aid if you spend $15 you receive $5 Up Rewards. You can use clearance items to qualify. I bought 2 Revlon clearance polishes for $1.36 each and used the $1 off Revlon polish coupon so it only cost me .36 cents each! I picked up a Revlon Age Defying powder for $3.46 and used the $2 off Revlon coupon available in today's paper. It cost me $1.36! I also got a Revlon ColorStay aqua mineral finishing powder. It also only cost me $1.36 after coupons and clearance price. ![]() Along with the Revlon purchases, at Rite Aid I picked up some clearance Nicole by O.P.I. Polishes, and a L.A. Colors color changing lipgloss. The Nicole by O.P.I. Modern Family and Selena Gomez polishes were 75% off. I got each for $1.24. I chose a gold and silver glitter by Selena Gomez called 'Kissed at Midnight', a Modern Family black and silver glitter called 'Luke of the Draw' and a pink micro and holographic glitter called ' Haley Good Lookin'. Lastly I picked up an L.A.Colors mood instinctive lipgloss for $1.99. It is a pale shimmery pink that is supposed to turn your own unique shade of pink on your lips. My total at Rite aid using coupons and store rewards came to $5.02. ![]() At Walgreens I picked up a iridescent glitter single eyeshadow from Wet n Wild. I also picked up a new Sinful Colors from their new collections called 'Red Eye'. From the new Fergie display I chose another Vicious Varnish Highshine lip stain in 'Flawless'. ![]() As part of my CVS trip I picked up some Revlon and L'Oreal products. The other day I bought the new L'Oreal Butterfly mascara and love it. This sale at CVS can give you a chance to buy a few new collection items. I bought a glittery L'Oreal polish and a new Color Extrordinaire lip gloss in Rosé Melody. If you spend $15 on Revlon you get $7 Extra Bucks back for your next purchase. I picked up a a Parfumerie Polish in African Tea Rose and a Super Lustrious Lipstick in 'Pink in the Afternoon'. I have never been a lipstick person but the Revlon lipsticks have completely changed my mind. This is a great week for Revlon and L'Oreal sales! Hope everyone had a great Christmas. I received CVS gift cards so I'm ready for some after holiday deals! Starting tomorrow 12/26 all cosmetic gift sets will be 50% off. So if you read my review on the $4.99 Color Concept gift set, tomorrow would be the day to pick one up for $2.50. CVS also has a thin ad for 12/26-12/28. The only sales for beauty products include BOGO 50% Revlon, Spend $10 on Physicians Formula and receive $10 EB and BOGO 50% off L'Oreal Eye.
This week I have $42 extra bucks to spend plus gift cards. I add to my budget beauty stash weekly by usually only purchasing items that give extra bucks. This is how I keep my out if pocket expense between $1 to $10. I usually average $5 out of pocket weekly per drugstore between coupons and store rewards programs. CVS -Aveeno $10 Extra Bucks when you purchase 3 items. I am interested in the Aveeno BB cream. It might be worth it if I receive a % off non sale items coupon from CVS in the mail -$3 off Aveeno BB Cream (coupons.com) -$2 off Aveeno Facial Care Product (Red Plum 11/24) -Maybelline Spend $15 receive $5 extra bucks -$2 Color Elixer or any Lip Product (12/8 RP) -$2 Foundation or Great Lash Mascara (coupons.com) -Sally Hansen Spend $12 receive $4 extra bucks. -Revlon Spend $12 receive $4 Extra bucks - $2 Revlon Lip Products (coupons.com) NO LONGER AVAILABLE ( Expires on 12/31 if you have any left) -Spend $20 on Cover Girl ( and other P&G products) receive $5 extra bucks, spend $30 receive $10. -$1 off any cover girl mfc (P&G Dec 1st) - BOGO 50% off Milani and Rimmel cosmetics It's an ok sale. Especially if you are looking to pick up some of the new Revlon blushes, bronzers or CC creams. Maybelline also has new blushes, eyeshadows, lip products, powders, polishes and eye shadows. I did a review on one of the new eye shadows and I was not impressed. I will keep posting any great clearance finds and great product finds. Have a Merry Christmas!!! I stopped at CVS and Rite Aid to check out any new displays and dwindling clearance deals. The cosmetics to the right were my $5 haul from CVS. With coupons and clearance my total came to around $10 and I received $5 extra bucks. The cosmetics to the left were from Rite Aid and they include my free Almay eye shadows. If you want to pick up any of these clearance deals I would head to the stores this week. They are moving old stuff out fast to make way for the new collections. ![]() The new Physicians Formula Super CC creams were in at Rite Aid. It claims to visibly correct things such as dullness, blemishes and age spots. I am on a quest to find a perfect combination of face creams for my problem areas. I have bought a few ones recently so I hope to do a review soon. There is a $3 off coupon attached to the box. They retailed at Rite Aid for $14.95. With my 20% off Gold member status and coupon I purchased this for $8. ![]() These are my free Almay eye shadows from Rite Aid. They are liquid shadows that I have never tried yet. They were on clearance for around $2.24 each and I had a $5 off 2 manufacturing coupon so they were free. ![]() For the nailpolish portion of my haul were 2 clearance polishes and a BOGO 50% pair. I picked up a black Sally Hansen nail art pen for $2.25, a Nicole by O.P.I. In A pinker Shade of Pale For $1.99 and 2 Julie G polishes including a textured glitter one. ![]() I got these 2 Revlon lip products for 31 cents. Each were 75% off and I had 2 $2.00 off Revlon Lip Products coupon. One was a Just Bitten Lip Stain and the other a Colorburst lip gloss. ![]() I picked up a Black Radiance eyeshadow palette quartet for $2. I have heard good things about these shadows and this brand is done by Wet n Wild. Wet n Wild has great eye shadows so I am hoping these will be the same. I am excited about the products that I got today. I hope to get a CC, BB, and foundation review and a Rainbow Nailpolish Glitter review done soon. I will make sure to share anything great or not so great about any of these products.
Happy Holidays!! ![]() This is my $5.00 haul from CVS. I used coupons and extra bucks and was emailed a 25% off non sale item coupons. I also received $31 extra bucks to be used on my next trip. I will only be talking about the beauty products to the left. ![]() Physicians Formula Super BB Cream $14.99 I bought a Youthful Foundation from them this past week and liked it. I am always looking for the perfect face products for my skin. I have sun damage, acne scars, fine lones starting to show and acne prone skin which I am always a little self conscious about. Most products help with one or two things but lag in another. I will try every face product until I have the right combination. I am going to do a product review of budget foundations, BB Creams and other face products in the future. This product claims to have 10 beauty benefits including concealing, moisturizing and line softening. Hopefully this will deliver on some of its claims. ![]() I usually don't buy anything from Almay but the glosses. I took a chance and picked the eye shadows to buy. I love their glosses but I'm a sucker for eye shadows. I haven't heard too many favorable reviews about these shadows. I decided to try them myself anyway. If anything, they have a nice palette of colors to offer and they have a tester to try. It felt velvety and the shadow color was sheer but noticeable. I picked up a glittery champagne color called creme brûlée. I also picked up violet purple called Vintage grape. Reviews to come. ![]() Around the holidays I usually pick up one or two of these drugstore makeup kits with a million items ( Fergies WnW Jet Set palette) or themes ( like Au Naturale or Ombré). These kits were $4.99. I got 25% off plus had $2 off a cosmetic gift set CVS coupon. It ended up being $1 and change. If the quality and color aren't there, at least I will have another eye pencil sharpener. ![]() On the new NYC display were balm pencils in a pretty arrangement of colors. I wanted to continue one of my New Years resolutions of wearing lipcolors in colors I usually shy away from. This color is called Canal St Coral. It was a sign I.was meant to get thiis color. My parents and I love to go to Canal Street when we go to NYC. ![]() Here is my Rite Aid haul for the week. With coupons and Up Rewards my total came to around $10. Like Cover Girl, I really want to like Rimmel products. I haven't found anything that I love or would buy extras just so I have. The shadows burned my eyes and none of their products I got ever 'wowed' me. Hopefully one of these will. I also picked up 2 more of the metallic formula Revlon Parfumerie polishes. Check out my review of these polishes in a previous post. ![]() I decided on these 4 products. Hopefully I will find a product that will restore my faith in this brand. I purchased Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam mascara in extreme black and Scandeleyes thick and thin eyeliner. I saw the new display the other day for their new Stay Matte foundation so i waited until today to pick it up.It also had powder on the display. I picked up the foundation in Light Ivory. Like I always mention, I'm looking for a great face makeup combination for my problem areas. I like different things about each BB cream I have. Hopefully this will be a BB cream I can count on. ![]() Lastly, I picked up 2 more shades from the Revlon Parfumerie collection. From a previous blog, you know I either HATE of LOVE the polishes from this collection. I'm hoping these 2 have the formula and characteristics of the polishes I liked. I chose Italian Leather a shimmery steel grey and Surf Spray a turquoise with pink shimmer. In the bottle they look to be of the right formula. Overall I am very excited to try my new products. I hope to be able to share some great products ( and share any that I don't think people should waste their money on!) I read other beauty blogs to get an idea of what new and seasoned products out there that are great. One of the purposes of my blog is to pass on that makeup product information to others with my own opinions tacked on. If I can encourage one person to take a step and buy a product they normally wouldn't, I have succeeded. It's a great feeling buying new makeup, especially ones that you usually wouldn't buy and end up loving. Reviews of these products to come! ![]() I picked up some great clearance items and brand new releases today. I had Up rewards to redeem at Rite Aid that were expiring so I used this as a reason to hit the drugstores beauty departments. I'm really excited about a few of my choices! In my haul were the following items: - 2 Sinful Nailpolish colors Mercury Rising and I Love You for .99 each after 50% clearance. (Rite Aid) - 2 Sally Hansen nail polish pens in white and pale pink for $1.49 each after 75% clearance.(RA) -Almay Wakeup Eyeshadow and primer in Exhilarate $2.25 after 75% clearance (RA) -Sally Hansen Nail Strips in Lust-Rous $2.50 after 75% clearance (RA) -Almay Intense I-color liquid shadow $2.25 after 75% clearance (RA) $5/2 mfc -New Cover Girl TruMagic skin perfect mattifier $13.99 but on sale for 25% off and $1 MFC (RA) -New York Color new mascara 'Big Bold Volume By The Lash' $4.99 with 30% off (RA) -New York Color new Show Time velvet eyeliner in Black Wine $2.99 with 30% off (RA) - NewYork Color Polish in Grand Central Station $1.99 with 30% off (RA) Note: This is THE best polish to use as a quick drying top coat -Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Cosmeceutical Foundation in Fair $3.50 after 75% off clearance (CVS) -Nuance by Salma Hayek perfect lips lip quad $2.50 after 75% clearance (CVS) After coupons and UP rewards at Rite Aid, my total at both stores came to $12 and change. Some things like the Sally Hansen and Almay items I'm giving away as gifts but the stuff I am keeping I am SO excited about. I will talk about them below. ![]() This exotic looking contraption is the lip quad from Salma Hayek's Nuance collection exclusive to CVS. This is the first product I have purchased from this brand. Each shade folds up and they snap together. It looks like a lotus flower opening and closing. Sometimes it's a bit tricky to get opened but once I practiced, I figured it out easily. The red and mauve to the right of it are creams, the other 2 are shimmer glosses. There is a lip brush that snaps into the middle. It is cute packaging and I love that I can carry it with me and always have a brush to reapply. The glosses all feel very soft and moisturizing on my lips. The box says it contains vitamin E conditioners and macadamia seed, jojoba seed and grape seed oils to strengthen and moisturizer. They have no smell to them which sometimes is really nice. Some other brands overpower the senses with vanilla or mint in their glosses. I want to see how long these last during my work day. Some brands I apply ten times a day or more! It would be nice to have a gloss that stays put through my day. I will test it over the next few days. ![]() I'm very excited to try this product. I have been looking for a cover girl product that I really love. I researched this and if it does what it claims then I can cross Cover Girl off my list of brands that I really want to like. This is a clear balm that says it gives instant matte. You can wear it under or over makeup. It says you can apply throughout the day like a pressed powder. I hope this gives my face a softer, more even appearance. I have acne scars and sun damage so I am always on the lookout for a product to help minimize them. I have never tried one of those 'pore minimizing products' either. I will wear this for a week to see if I notice a difference in pore size, softness and evenness in appearance. ![]() Since I tried their shimmer eye palettes recently I have been actually stopping at the Physicians Formula section in the drugstores. This shade had a 75% off sticker. Like I mentioned before, with the scar dark spots and sun damage I'm always looking for a foundation, powder, BB Cream or whatever to help even my face out. This foundation claims to be ' youth boosting' and adds 10 years instantly. On the back of the box it claims to be the 1st foundation formula ever to instantly even out skin tone and texture and to treat the visible signs of aging, restoring firmness and improving skins appearance instantly. It says to apply after concealer. I'm willing to try any product to help my skin look better. I will try for a week and see if any of these claims have merit. ![]() I usually only buy NYC's new products and limited edition collection items (with the exception of Grand Central Station Polish). This is part of the 'Round the Clock' Display at Rite Aid that I saw for the first time today. I am always willing to try a new mascara, especially one that says it multiplies lashes by 200% I picked this up in Extreme Black. There was also double ended eye pencil duo's, another mascara, single packaged eye pencils and 2 eye shadow palettes with primer. I have the old purple 'Blue Eye' palette that is VERY similar to this one so I saw no need to get this one. I also am drawn more to color than browns so that was a pass as well. The eye pencils are horrible. I bought 2 recently and they pulled at my eye and actually hurt while I applied it. I did not want to take my chances with the duo ones. Instead, I saw the velvet eyeliners which sounded soft and less 'hurty'. The back says it is formulated with vitamins C and E. I decided to give NYC's eye pencils another chance. Plus the one it picked up is called 'Black Wine'. It's a warm black with deep red glitter. Its a beautiful shade that i actually cant wait to use. I will incorporate both products into a look soon and hopefully I will still be excited about these products.
Today was a great day for getting some clearance and brand new products to try. My Up reads wee expiring so it gave me the excuse to pick up some more things to try. If you are interested in any clearance products, I would get them ASAP because they are selling out fast. Plus you never known when they will just remove the product to replace with a new one. I hope in the future to have some recommended products from this haul, especially the cover girl pick up. Thanks for reading and have a sparkling day!!!! Sunday is when I do my major makeup purchases using weekly ad sales, coupons and store programs such as Extra Bucks for CVS and Up Rewards for Rite Aid. I only buy beauty products when they have a great sale or when they produce a Store Reward (ECB, Up Reward). My best haul to date was spending $1.20 on a $178.00 worth of beauty products at CVS. If I truly want or need a product, I wait until it is on sale or produces a store reward. This is how I am able to add to my makeup and nail collection each week without spending a fortune. I average $5-$7 a store on Sunday for 5-10 new makeup products. CVS is great in that they have a Beauty Rewards Club. If you sign up, for every $50 you spend on Beauty Products you receive $5 Extra Bucks. At first I thought it would take me forever to reach $50, but it adds up fast. I get $5-$10 a week in Extra Bucks just through the Beauty Rewards Club. The great thing is that they add the full price to your Beauty Rewards Total when you use coupons or redeem store rewards. My CVS account Beauty Club says that I spent $1175.79 this year on Beauty Products. But my Out of Pocket Expenses for the year for everything (not just Beauty Products) bought at CVS is around $455.00. It says on my account I have also saved $1,672.00 to date. A lot of people say CVS is the more expensive out of the top 3 drugstores but if you put in the time to research and match up coupons, you can end up spending the least and saving the most here. CVS also sends great 20-30% off non sale item coupons through email that I regularly get which helps me in getting more makeup. :-) Coupons through the Red Coupon Machine in store help with savings as well. Some of the coupons listed with the drugstore deals are regional coupons. I buy several different newspapers on Sunday. I live in Connecticut and even in different Connecticut papers the coupons differ. If you are from around this area the papers that I get with the coupons are: The New Haven Register (Saturday and Sunday edition have coupons), Connecticut Post, Hartford Courant, NY Daily News and NY Post. (My father works around D.C. so he sometimes brings me regional coupon inserts from that area) On the website www.SundayCouponsPreview.com they have the 2013 schedule of inserts. The coupon inserts are Red Plum, SmartSource and Proctor and Gamble. Proctor and Gamble usually come out once a month and at the beginning of the month. Not all newspapers will have all the inserts listed to be out that Sunday. Some coupons are also available to be printed from RedPlum.com, SmartSource.com and P&GEveryday.com. I will use abbreviations for the inserts next to the coupons under the beauty deals. RP- Red Plum SS- Smart Source PG- Proctor & Gamble I will also indicate where a coupon can be printed off online. Let's see what I will be picking up this week to review and share: CVS: Next week due to the holiday, they have 2 different 3 day ads. 12/22-12/24 Ad -Buy 2 Maybelline Great Lash Mascara or ColorShow Nail Polish and receive $2 Extra Bucks. - $1 off Maybelline ColorShow NailPolish MFC(RP, 12/8/13) - $1 off Maybelline Color Elixer or Any Lip ProductMFC(RP, 12/8/13) - $2 off Maybelline Mascara or Foundation MFC (coupons.com) Note: I will probably use this deal if I can find it at CVS on the Limited Edition Great Lash Colored Mascara. I have the Very Berry. I have not seen these at a CVS around me, just at Rite aid and Walgreens. They have several colors including Blue, Green, Pink, Purple, Teal and Violet. I tried the Rimmel Pop Lash colored mascara in green, purple and blue and did not like them. They were too "Halloween" looking. I love color but it made my eyelashes disappear in the color. It didn't make them stand out. The Very Berry Maybelline is a deep berry that accents my eye color and eyeshadow color, not overpowers it like the RImmel Lash Pop. They average $6.00 and with the $2 printable coupon they will be $4.00 each. Plus you will get back $2 EB towards another day's purchase. So you will really get 2 Great Lash Mascara's for around $6. -Color Concept Beauty Book $4.99 and Receive $1 EB -$2 off Cosmetic Holiday Gift Set CVS coupon (CVS Coupon Center) Note: I usually pick up a few holiday beauty sets after Christmas when they go on sale for half off or more. I saw these at CVS and they looked worth a try. Especially for $1.99 after Coupon and Extra Buck received. -Buy 2 Almay Products, Receive $5 EB -$5/2 MFC on coupons.com Note: Rite Aid has a phenomenal clearance on products and using the $5/2 coupon gets you free products. CVS also has some Almay clearance but clearance items do not count towards Extra Buck deals. This is a good sale for the Liquid Lip Balms which I really like. They are not sticky and have a nice sheer color for when I want my eye makeup to stand out. The glosses are $5.99. For 2 glosses: $11.98 - $ 5.00 MFC ______________ $6.98 for 2 Glosses - $5.00 EB for use on next purchase ______________ $1.98 for 2 Glosses Other Sales 12/22 (Depending on coupons I get through email I may or may not buy these) -$15 on Physicians Formula and get $10 EB for use on next purchase -BOGO 1/2 off Wet n Wild Products CVS AD 12/26-12/28
There are not too many makeup Extra Buck sales in this ad. If I get a % off coupon I will probably use it in the ad earlier In the week. Some of the notable beauty sales: -Revlon BOGO 50% -$2 off Revlon Lip (Coupons.com) NO LONGER AVAILABLE Note: If you still have a few left like me, this could be a good time to use them. They expire 12/28. I have been using them on the Revlon Lip Butters. I thought I was more of a lip gloss than lip stick girl but these lipsticks feel like a gloss on. They gift a softer look than lipstick and color like a lip stain. They are $7.99 and with $2.00 off coupons you can get 2 of these for: $7.98 -$15 and Receive $10 EB on Physicians Formula -BOGO 50% L'Oreal Eye - $1 mfc on L'Oreal Eye (RP 12/8/13) -50% off cosmetic gift sets |
